Interview with a Dutch jazz musician. Joost Kesselaar studied at the Sweelinck conservatory, the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and with Jeff Hamilton in Los Angeles. He was taught by other drummers such as Idris Muhammed, John Riley and Joe Chambers. He played with a variety of Dutch and international musicians, for instance Soesja Citroen, Michiel Borstlap, Anton Goudsmit, Kenny Wheeler, Charlie Mariano, Cedar Walton and Joe Lovano and he played at various festivals in Montreal, Istanbul, Damascus and at the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Hague. Joost can be heard on over 60 recordings and teaches at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht.
