In this broadcast, two string quintets by Robbie James: Dreaming in the Sand and The Marree Sisters.
The Australian composer Robbie James has an unusual background for a classical composer. Since 1985 he has been the lead guitarist of the band GANGgajang. The song Sounds of Then (This is Australia) has become part of Australian musical folklore and is often regarded as the alternative national anthem of Australia. Robbie James also toured the world for five years with Yothu Yindi, the band that brought the culture of the First Nations to the world stage, including the Netherlands.
