Nuove Musiche

mon 6 mar 2017 18:00 hour

This hour features a new, special CD with early music. Le Strade del Cuore, the new CD by tenor Marco Beasley.

On his new CD ‘Le Strade del Cuore’ (The Ways to the Heart) Marco Beasley shows the listener the art of song from South Italy and Sicily in the 15th and 16th century.

This CD follows the evolution of a simple yet expressive style, that counterbalances the much more developed contrapuntal style of the renaissance. This evolution takes place under the influences of 15th and 16th century’s humanism. The musical traditions of this era came about in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, what is now central and southern Italy, and is still alive today. On this CD, music that was saved in manuscripts or spread through oral tradition.

Beside conducting research in libraries and archives, Marco Beasley also travelled through South Italy to collect accounts and set down recollections of old songs.

Marco Beasley, and his accompanists Fabio Accurso on lute and Stefano Rocco on archlute and guitar, take you back to the days of old.
