An old LP cover dug out of the Concertzender archives: 3 Hür-El
Trippy rock by a freaky trio with fuzz guitars and Turkish singing. 3 Hürel (pronounced as ‘ütsch hürel’) are three Turkish brothers who made two LPs in the seventies. The sound is typical for the Turkish rock of that period, a fusion of folk and electric guitars. The ‘Hürel-groove’ stand out because of the funky rhythms and psychedelics that sometimes comes close to Cream. In this OpgeHoesd we will play their second record: ‘Hürel Arsivi’ (1976). As desert we have two songs of one of the best showcases of the World Music Expo (Womex), in Sevilla late October this year. Taksim Trio presents itself as a solid unity of three excellent soloists on duduk, baglama and kanun. The songs we will play are from their newly released CD ‘Taksim Trio’.
