An old LP cover dug out from the Concertzender archives. Les Aiglons.
There are only three of them on the bright orange cover but Les Aiglons was a large band consisting of Michel d’Alexis (bandleader, trumpet), Pierre d’Alexis (vocals) Maurice Odacre (background vocals), Jules Emile Odacre (piano, synthesizer), Phillipe Dilo (solo guitar), Phillipe Alibar (Bass and backing), Jean Phillipe Manche (drums), Nicaisa Vandal (tenor sax), Jean Pierre Fevry (trumpet), Réné Beauregard (trompet), Jeanne Boisdur (background vocals). And guest artists: Christianne Obydol & Dominique Zorobadel (background vocals), and Gilles Floro (piano, synthesizer). Les Aiglons was a popular rhythm or salsa band in Guadeloupe, one of the French Antilles, in the seventies. Their hit ‘Cuisse La’ remained the best selling Antillean record until Zouk-La Se Sel Medikamen Nou Ni by Kassav was released in 1985. In 1987 Les Aiglons released their last LP, ‘Bon’m La’ (that we will be featuring today), although two band members continued with the band Love Stars that was set up in 1988. In addition to ‘Bon’m La’ we will play some tracks from the first CD of Les Aiglons (‘Le Disque des Vacances’) including their hit ‘Cuisse La’.
