Classical music from Turkey.
In this Oriënt Express we will play a selection of old recordings of Turkish musicians and singers of the 20th century.
These recordings are from the series "Masters of Turkish music " of the American label Rounder. We will play various songs and improvised poems (Gazel) by, among others, Îsak el-Gazî, Münir Nurettin Selçuk, Tarsus’lu Abdülkerîm and Safiye Ayla and instrumental pieces by, among others, Tanburi Cemil Bey, Udi Hrant, Udî Marko Melkon Alemsherian, Neyzan Tevfik and Sükrü Tunar.
