Three examples of Hindu (or North Indian) classical music. Raag hansadhwani (the scream of the swan), a raga in the early evening by 18th-century master Mutuswamy Dikshitar. Here Sachdev plays solo on a bansuri.

Raag Purya, played in the khyal style. Purya is a hexatonic raga of a peaceful and serious nature. The most suitable time to play this is supposedly after sundown. Sung by Ghulam Mustafa Khan, accompanied by Mass choir Khan on harmonium & Ghulam Sultan Naïazi on tabla. CD. Nimbus, code: NI 5409.
