A rage that originated from the south Indonesian tradition performed by singers Sulochana Brahaspati, Hariprasad Chaurasia (1) on bansuri, Sultan Khan on sarangi & Zakir Hussain on tabla.

(1) Hariprasad Chaurasia (1938) is a virtuoso on the bansuri, the Indian bamboo flute. People thought that Chaurasia would follow in his father’s footsteps and become a professional wrestler. The flute player says his stamina and big lung capacity come from the wrestling training he had as a kid. Not only does Chaurasia play the classical music of Northern- India but also writes film music. On top of that he works with Western artists like John McLaughlin and Jan Garbarek. And to top it off Chaurasia also has ties to Codarts as artistic advisor of Indian music at the Rotterdam Conservatory.
