Singer Farida Mahwash is a legendary singer from Afghanistan. She is the only woman ever to receive the prestigious title of Ustad (master musician).
In the heyday of Afghan music, the 1960s and 1970s, Mahwash was a major star on Kabul Radio. On the album Ghazals Afghans she sings her beloved ghazals in Persian, accompanied by tabla, flute, sitar, lute and harmonium.
