Tabla player Hameed Khan from Rajasthan, in northwestern India, left for France in 1984 and collaborated with many renowned names from the world music world. He then decided to do some more with his own gypsy culture. He called his relatives together and thus Musafir project was born. It became an overwhelming success. Hameed Khan is now a household name in Rajasthan. He gives many of Rajasthan’s musicians the opportunity to play along and introduce themselves to a wider audience.

He started at the age of thirteen and continued to learn for years with the greatest tabla masters, including maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan. Jesse Bannister, trumpet player, studied Jazz music in Leeds. During that time he became fascinated by Indian music through his studies with teacher/sitarist Dharambir Singh.
