Kiran Ahluwalia
Born in India, raised in Canada and currently splits her time between New York City and Toronto. With roots in Sufi, Qawalli, Ghazal and Punjabi Folk, she creates her own contemporary songs that are both reflective and groovy. She is preparing to release her new album Comfort Food on May 4, 2024, an album about increasing ethnic marginalization and political polarization.

2– New Bharat Brass-band De Bangalore
Every self-respecting Indian city has a hundred of these brass bands. Their main task is to escort the groom from the parental home to the bride’s and back again. The New Bharat Fanfare Corps from Bangalore mainly consists of family members of the owner and sons of retired or deceased corps members. The fame of this corps has now transcended India. Since 1992 they have also given performances in Europe. On this album they perform arrangements of Indian film melodies and Western evergreens.

3– Sheila Chandra
Sheila made some of the most beautiful and innovative recordings in the World Music category. Roots and Wings (from 1989) was Sheila’s 5th solo album. It followed a four-year sabbatical during which she further developed her already impressive and distinctive vocal style. In the 1990s, the album spent weeks on the Billboard Top 20 New Age charts. Several songs feature Sheila’s textured vocals and vibrant Indian percussion.
