III. Toufic Farroukh. (16:20 min).
Saxophonist and composer of jazz with a Middle Eastern slant, stemming from his bi-cultural roots in Lebanon and France. His brother, a saxophonist, guided him in learning to play the instrument and taught him the basics. The instrument was foreign to their environment; unconventional, and only used for certain occasions. Toufic Farroukh moved from Beirut to Paris, where he studied music at the conservatory. The saxophone was his main instrument. He studied his instrument in a way that was completely his own, not comparable to other styles of music played on the saxophone.
