She has dedicated her life to exploring the vast Anatolian musical landscape, searching for melodies and folklore to showcase the richness of Anatolian culture to the world. Sabahat Akkiraz’s own journey led her to Orient Expressions, and together they embarked on a journey into the unknown, where electronic music meets the East. From these adventures emerged the album After The Fact. Orient Expressions forms the musical foundation for the trained singer, weaving traditional Anatolian music with an electronic, technologically enhanced foundation.

II. Oriënt Express. (20:17 min)
The Groningen ensemble Orient Express plays a repertoire of traditional Greek, Turkish, Balkan, and Italian music. In 1991, they released an album on the Dutch label PAN. This album features a mix of traditional Turkish, Ottoman, and Southeast European music with modern arrangements, and also features traditional instruments such as the baglama, clarinet, and violin.

III. Sissy Zhou & Miquèu Montanaro. (19:15 min)
To learn more about the music of the South of France, Sissy Zhou, a Chinese native, met Miquèu Montanaro, a musician from Provence. This led to the birth of the duo Lavande & Jasmin. According to Philippe Fanise, a French expert on world music, the duo creates music just like the yin and yang of traditional Chinese Taoism, which lives by uniting opposing energies. The elegance of silk and the rusticity of bamboo, the masculine and the feminine, the past of tradition and the present of creation.
