sat 18 jul 2015 20:00 hour

Jazz, blues and nostalgia.

This hour of Palace of Nostalgia takes us back to a musical universe of lost times. With the ‘one-armed Indian’, trumpeter Wingy Manone,  Dinah Washington in a song that caused commotion in 1928 when it was written by Cole Porter. Furthermore the drilled swing orchestra of Jimmie Lunceford in a fantastic arranangement by Sy Oliver, the obscure novelty-group The Three Peppers, who operated in the wake of the Mills Brothers. Also trumpeters Art Farmer and Louis Armstrong, cowboy-singer Frankie Laine who goes back to his roots in the jazz with the band of Buck Clayton. And the award-winning singer Marian Anderson, who became a spokesperson in the African-American civil rights movement.
