Jazz, blues and nostalgia. Theme: ‘Miracles 1915’.
It is a year that mainly lives on in the events of the First World War. But musically it was very rich. After all one hundred years ago Frank Sinatra was born (on 12 December), a week later Edith Piaf (19 December) and earlier in the year Billie Holiday (7 April). In the same year in 1915 Sinatra’s pianist Bill Miller (3 February) was born and the year also brought cowboy singer Lorne Greene (known from ‘Bonanza’ and the hit ‘Ringo’), the soprano Gré Brouwenstijn, songwriter Ray Evans, arranger/conductor Van Alexander and blues performer Willie Dixon. In the Palace an ode to those from 1915.
