Panorama De Leeuw

Repeat of Episode I: Sprouting love for music. Thea Derks follows the music track of Reinbert de Leeuw according to the biography she wrote and which appeared in 2014: ‘Reinbert de Leeuw, human or melody’. The pianist, composer and conductor meant a lot to the Dutch music scene and still occupies a prominent position in this scene. Dutch newspaper ‘De Volkskrant’ described the biography as ‘a panorama of Dutch musical life of the 20th century’.

Today we pay attention to the sprouting love of De Leeuw for music. He was born as the son of two psychiatrists with a great love for music and naturally he received piano lessons. When he was a little boy he went to recitals and concerts in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam by using the subscriptions of his parents.Music by Erik Satie, Frederic Chopin, Hector Berlioz, Claude Debussy, Oscar van Hemel and Reinbert de Leeuw himself.
