Panos Alexiadis
Panos Alexiadis is a sound artist based in Athens, Greece, active in the field of contemporary electro-acoustic music. He founded and co-curated the tape label Thalamos, a home for exploratory sounds, where some of his own works also found their place. Marking a return after a period of reflection, ‘Cestrum Nocturnum’ is an album of remembrance and renewal. Through a lattice of self-sampled piano, fragmented voices, field recordings, and transient digital traces, Alexiadis composes a space of warmth—an electronic tapestry woven from the ephemeral.

Spiritualized
Spiritualized’s most celebrated album, and Kate Radley’s last as a member, the core line up added Damon Reece on drums as well as featuring contributions from Dr John, the London Community Gospel Choir, B.J Cole and 19 technical personnel. It took its title from a passage in Joystein Gaarder’s novel “Sophie’s World”, where a young girl attempts to define the meaning of life by travelling through time and space, meeting the world’s great philosophers

Sewer Election + ÅN
The duo invites the listener to a mesmerizing suburban journey that feels like a dissolving snapshot of something arcane and long lost just as much as it feels very here and now. The synth work explored during the last few years by Dan takes new turns as it intersects with lush organ melodies, environmental recordings and expanded drones. While being a rather minimal album, the bold presence of evocative yet simple melodies invokes a strange sense of a forgotten time and place, a familiar yet unknown ambience draped in gritty Kortedala-lore.

Machine Listening (Sean Dockray, James Parker, and Joel Stern)
Environments 12 is a new, speculative addition to the once-popular Environments series: a sequence of 11 records released between 1969 and 1979 that anticipated a mass-market in mood-altering nature recordings. Now, in the era of planetary scale computation, it is the environment itself that’s being updated. The reproduction, synthesis and management of soundscapes has become ubiquitous and automated. Loudspeakers and microphones are laced through the biosphere, all in the name of a cybernetic ecology.

Éric La Casa & Jérôme Noetinger
“An exploration of buildings emptied of their activities, a crossing of spaces abandoned by their occupants, a drift through the ghostly trace of a vanished presence, a testimony to the general deterioration underway that also applies to the very medium of recording. And all this despite a mysterious presence that accompanies us throughout these tracks.”

Mark Harwood
Mark Harwood (b. Melbourne) is a London based performer and recording artist working with a variety of sonic and performative elements. Under the guise of Astor he deploys a wide variety of techniques including field recording, musique concrete and electronics resulting in works that are developed as a means of bypassing the cliches imbedded within these disparate worlds in order to coerce a sound world which is simultaneously contemporary, foreign and engaging. Astor takes a magnifying glass to reality and unfurls it into uncanny audio essays. . His live performances encompass a variety of procedures incorporating the immediate surrounds where improvised actions yield spontaneous results leaving both performer and audience in unexpected predicaments, a state of mild hypnosis and potentially even laughter.

Bill Wells & Maher Shalal Hash Baz
Originally released in May 2006 through the German label Karaoke Kalk, »Osaka Bridge« was an album that captured the joyful amateurism of Tori Kudo’s free-spirited Japanese collective Maher Shalal Hash Baz and Bill Wells’ rich, wistful and easy sense of melody. Approaching brass band and jazz music with a knack for making playing imperfectly feel perfectly right, »Osaka Bridge« became nothing short of groundbreaking when it was released to critical acclaim, becoming an instant classic among musicians and fans alike.
