Sean McCann
Dialog, music, and elaborate sound design fold into a narrative fantasy about self-cannibalization and transformation. Written and recorded over five years, this is McCann’s first album since 2019’s Puck (Recital) and his first opera. The opera is voiced by composer Martin Bresnick, artist Nour Mobarak, musician Max Eilbacher [Horse Lords], and voice actors David George and Krystel Abimeri. McCann performed and recorded most of the music himself, meticulously editing every sound.

Idea Fire Company
For almost 40 years IFCO has carved their own path, or dug their own hole, depending on your view, through the ever-changing world of underground music. Still violently committed to the Avant-Garde and to new forms of beauty. Still Romantic. Still idealistic. Despite the odds. In the old days, this sort of commitment was better appreciated. IFCO remains IFCO. As a number of people have said over the years, every IFCO record sounds different, but they all sound like IFCO.

Yorgos Stavridis
Athens-based percussionist and sound artist Yorgos Stavridis makes a stark, physical debut for Heat Crimes with Solo Percussion, a set of one-take improvisations that approach percussion as a field of friction between body, objects, space, and sound. Working with membranes, metals, found objects and feedback systems, Stavridis foregrounds timbre, texture and spatial presence, collapsing distinctions between instrument, environment and recording apparatus.

KAKUHAN
Japan’s electroacoustic vanguard reconvene for their second album proper, once again shining light on previously unoccupied space somewhere between Arthur Russell and Autechre. It’s supremely moody, impossibly innovative business, folding Yuki Nakagawa’s no-wave’d cello vamps into Koshiro Hino (aka YPY)’s brittle electroid syncopations.
