Sanssouci opens its Mozart year with church music from Salzburg.
This year Sanssouci is devoted to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Is it a jubilee year? No, but a composer of this stature does not need one.
Throughout the year, not only Mozart’s music will be heard. Just as in his own time, his music was not performed “in isolation”, it will be presented alongside works by his contemporaries and by composers whose influence can be heard in Mozart’s oeuvre.
In this episode, music by Eberlin, the court composer in Salzburg at the time of Mozart’s birth, and Adlgasser, the court organist and an older contemporary of Mozart.
