Series about and with Catalan gambist and conductor Jordi Savall. In this episode we focus on Alfonso X of Castille, called the Wise, the Spanish king who lived in the thirteenth century. Not only was he a fearsome general back then, but he also greatly encouraged the arts and music in his kingdom.
In 2017 old recordings of Cantigas de Santa Maria, which had been attributed to him, but had probably been created by a variety of poets and composers were remastered and re-released by Savall’s label AliaVox.
