Bluegrass reformed.
Lately, the hurried stringband music from the southern highlands of the United States is taken in hand by up-and-coming talent. Singer and banjo player Abigail Washburn renews the genre with injections from classical music and even from China. However, violinist and bandmate Casey Driessen also preaches the rejuvenation on his new CD 3D, aided by excellent forces like dobro player Jerry Douglas, banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck and bass player Victor Krauss(Alison’s brother).
