DJ Safri is one of the leading worldgrooves DJs from the Netherlands. He’s a true pioneer in the so-called ‘Global Beat Fusion’, a unique musical blend integrating traditional rhythms and melodies from around the world with cutting edge contemporary club sounds. The result is an irresistible global melting pot: the ultimate soundtrack for this globalizing world where borders are fading! As of November, Safri has a residency at the monthly Globaloca! events in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
This month, DJ Safri was inspired by the English/Indian film Slumdog Millionaire, that recently bore off 8 Oscars including the one for best soundtrack and best song. The music was made by A.R. Rahman, one of Bollywood’s most famous composers of this moment. DJ Safri has been a fan of Bollywood films and of A.R. Rahman for years and is glad there’s finally some recognition from the West. In the mix you will hear a couple of songs from the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionare next to other Bollywood, Bhangra & Asian Underground tracks.
