David S. Ware (1949) is an American free jazz saxophone player who continued to develop this style following in the footsteps of illustrious predecessors such as Albert Ayler and Archie Shepp. He began in groups with pianist Cecil Taylor and drummer Andrew Cyrille. Since the 90s he leads his own quartets with musicians like pianist Matthew Shipp and bass player William Parker.
