In the final part on the English reed player John Surman 2 remarkable trios will be discussed. In the one trio from the end of the 60s, with bass player Barre Philips and percussion player Stu Martin, Surman can exclusively be heard playing acoustic. He formed SOS in 1973, with tenor saxophonist Alan Skidmore and alto saxophonist Mike Osborne, in which Surman also plays the synthesizer. On their only record for record label Ogun they used pre-recorded electronics.
