How small can a bigband be? The limit seems to be 10 people: that means Miles Davis’ famous Nonet doesn’t count, but of course the Tentets of vibraphone player Teddy Charles and saxophone player Gerry Mulligan do, as does pianist / arranger Marty Paich’s Dektet.
