The Cafe of Sounds
Sunday afternoon, come rain or shine, at home or out? At the Cafe of Sounds you’re in the right place: the intimacy of a livingroom with the vibe of the cafe. Every third Sunday of the month, the Cafe of Sounds offers live performances by up-and-coming talent, and by artists who have won their spurs in the music world. An experience that will make you return!
Last Sunday, a new Cafe of Sounds took place at the VondelCS Studios, in the middle of the Vondelpark in Amsterdam. Soprano Kirila Kraal, who had been a guest before in the Cafe of Sounds, accompanied host Louis Gauthier as his sidekick. Our guest was famous singer Anneke van Giersbergen who is going ‘classical’. She told about the classical project ‘Verloren Verleden’ (‘Lost Past’) in which she sings contemporary arrangements of classical arias. Of course she also performed some of them in the show. This week’s young talent was composer Jannum Kruidhof. Pianist Isolde Troost and violin player Manja Kruidhof-Okkerse performed his work. Artist Ark Pistoor told about his passion for classical composers. How does he incorporate music in his art? You were able to see it during his mini exposition in the studio!
See you on 20 March with Wouter Hamel and Laetitia Gerards.
