Lilian Vieira.jpgLilian Vieiria.
This is Lilian Vieira’s first solo album. It takes us back to the seventies, to her youth in Brazil, where her parents taught her the love for music. Lilian herself wrote all lyrics and music for this album. She created a rhythmic combination with a lot of soul and groove, inspired by her musical heroes: Jorge Ben, Trio Mocotó and Tim Maia. The album begins with a sound fragment of her mother and ends with a blessing from her father, which is for a good reason. In Lilian Vieira’s life, grief and joy take turns when it is about the real and emotional distance between her motherland Brazil and homeland the Netherlands, in which music is always the combining factor. Bebel Gilberto.jpgBebel Gilberto.
With the CD Momento, the singer returns to the traditional bossa nova. Bebel Gilberto is a modern incarnation of ‘The Girl from Ipanema’; tall, brown, young and beautiful, with the bossa nova literally streaming through her veins. It were her father João Gilberto and his first wife Astrud Gilberto, who -more than four decades ago- put the Brazilian bossa nova in the spotlights all around the world. So, it should be no surprise that Bebel Gilberto turned out to be the most popular Brazilian singer. Momento was nominated for a ‘Grammy Award ‘ as ‘Best Contemporary World Music Album’ in 2007. Cd. Momento Bebel Gilberto. Label: Crammed Discs/Zirguiboom (2007), code: Zir-30P. Video
