The Jazz Connection

At the end of the 1940s pianist George Shearing (1919-2011) formed a quintet that with a guitar, vibraphone, bass and percussion produced a recognizable own sound, the ‘Shearing Sound’. From the 1960s they tried a different approach, alone or with colleagues, instrumental or vocal. Especially the meetings with singer Mel Tormé were successful.
