Eli “Lucky” Thompson (1924-2005) is still being appreciated as an original tenor saxophone player with a beautiful tone. In addition, he was one of the first from the Bebop generation to qualify himself at the soprano sax. In the meantime, recognition of his work has been carried out by a group of New Yorkers, led by Chris Byars, who wants to keep Thompson’s music alive.
