The Jazz Connection : Sonny Rollins
Tenor saxophone player Sonny Rollins has always been a wayward man. Even when it comes to choosing themes for improvising, his preference was often quite different from that of his colleagues. Rollins does not feel too big for tunes like “I’m an old cowhand from the Rio Grande…” nor for Hawaiian sweetness like “Sweet Leilani”. Because even when he just blows his nose, it is still the sound of Rollins.
