The myth of Sampo by the Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara.
He composed this musically dramatic work in 1982 at the request of the Helsinki University Chorus. It is based on the Finnish medieval epic poem “Kalevala”. The myth takes place in the period of the Vikings in the 8th and 9th century.
