The Italian record company Felmay always releases very extraordinary CDs. In the catalogue you’ll find a variety of jazz and world music CDs. For Felmay, world music is clearly an umbrella term as well because they do not only release hip crossovers such as the Portuguese Terrakota, who played at the Amsterdam Roots Festival last year. They also release traditional Italian music and many many more. Tonight, you’ll hear some new releases with classical music from Java and India and traditional music from Italy.
00:00 We start with Javan chamber music by Suppanggah Rahayu and the gamelan band Garasi Seni Benawa. Suppangah, who composes contemporary as well as popular gamelan, released an album with the Felmay label with classical gamelan music in Solo style. 01:07 The composer and accordion player Riccardo Tesi has already released many CDs with Felmay. On his latest CD Crinali he arranged traditional folk music for a contemporary instrumentation consisting of saxophone, guitar, piano, clarinet, percussion, vibraphone, and bass.

The singer Sangeeta Bandyopadhyay is a disciple of Sangeetacharya Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri of Kolkata and Ustad Munawar Ali Khan, the son of the great Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan of Patiala Gharana.
