Jazz, blues and nostalgia.
What’s called ‘cool’ today, was called ‘out of this world’ in the fifties, and Matt Dennis produced a nice song about it. Continuing in the Palace of Nostalgia at 08.00 p.m. a contemplative Frank Sinatra, who sings about lost love (’The Hurt Doesn’t Go Away), there are comforting words of Chris Connor and Ella Fitzgerald, live music by the Dave Brubeck Quartet, a classic from John Coltrane & Thelonious Monk, humor by ‘the band without plugs’ the Animal Crackers, the Canadian vocalist Anne Murray, guitar player Grant Green, Peggy Lee and a remarkable, but unfortunately unknown, vocalist from the orchestra of Duke Ellington.
