Folk music from Turkey, part 4 (of4).

In this last programme of folk music from Turkey, some seven recordings, which were made at weddings in villages in the years between 1965 and 1983. You will be hearing some songs that are played at a large drum, de davul, which is being played on with a stick at one side and a reed at the other side. You will also hear the zurna, the dubbel-reed folk hobo, an instrument that is especially used by the gypsies in Southern Europe and the three-string vedel, the kementche.CD Turkey, Anatolian Village Music, (1994), VDE-Gallo, VDE-797.
The next CD was recorded at the Abdál, a tribe of which the Turks claim that they are gypsies. During the programme, there will be detailed information about all of the music. Cd. Topic 908.
