From December 1966 up to and including May 1968, the English composer and pianist Mike Westbrook (1936) performed at The Old Place in London practically every week.
Saxophone player Ronnie Scott and Peter King, the club’s manager, handed over the club for eighteen months, with an unexpired lease, to avant-garde musicians as a performance venue. During that time The Mike Westbrook Concert Band was founded. The band performed the final concert on the very last night.
