The Art of the Improvisers

sat 16 feb 2019 18:00 hour

American tenor saxophone player Frank Wright (1935-1990) started as a bass player but, inspired by Albert Ayler, changed to the saxophone. He is considered as one of the greats in free jazz. He mostly lived in Europe since 1969, as he was more successful there than in his native country. Today you will hear his quartet, with pianist Bobby Few, bassist Alan Silva and drummer Muhammad Ali, who were also well-known names within the free jazz style. The recordings were made in 1974, at the international Moers-festival in Germany.
