In Off the Beaten Track, pianist John Dennis is the main focus this time. Thanks to Charles Mingus and Max Roach, on 10 March 1955 he was given the opportunity to play a full LP with Mingus and Roach and to be part of a quartet recording by Thad Jones, also featuring Mingus and Roach. That’s it for the ‘fat genius from Philadelphia’ (Jimmy Heath).
