freres-de-sac

1.
The French duo Frères de Sac.
The duo consists of the brothers Jean-Loup, who plays the accordion diatonically, and Christophe Sacchettini, who plays the flute and cornamuse. The two play folk music in a virtuoso manner, with clear elements of jazz. They render Breton and Swedish music, and the typical music style of the Occitan Auvergne. CD. ‘Tout n’a qu’un temps’, Frères de Sac. Label: Mustradem (2007), Distributie L’Autre Distribution, code: MTD 733. Video

cholo-montironi

2.
Cholo Montironi.
Bandoneonist and composer Cholo Montironi  was born in Argentina in 1931. He is known around the world for his virtuoso performances on the bandoneon. On this recording, a recital unfolds, which doesn’t only showcase the technical and musical mastery of Montironi, but also the stunning arrangments. We clearly feel the intimicy and confrontation between the instrument and its player. CD. ‘Una voz de Bandonéon’, Cholo Montironi. Label: Signature / Radio France (2002), code: 0105. Video
