Rabasa is a band from Rotterdam with Cape Verde roots. That means a wonderful mix of music and musicians. In short: an infectious mix of African and Portuguese sounds, provided with the necessary melancholy. On this album Ora Ta Pasa – Portuguese for ‘Time is ticking’ – the Ortet brothers take the listener to their beloved birthplace of the island of Santiago. Rabasa represents sultry summer music with compelling melodies. The longing for a lost love or the fatherland is a splash.

2- Ora doci Ora margos – Elida Almeida.
Elida Almeida overcomes the traumas of her difficult childhood on an album full of folk melodies and with the beats of the island of Santiago, enriched with the subtle arrangements of guitarist Hernani Almeida. Ora doci Ora margos reflects the hopes and dreams of young Cape Verdeans who want to flee their isolation and embrace the world. The style of the young singer is very different from that of Cesaria Evora, but it has the same charm that shines through the sincerity of her voice and the allure of her message.

3- Acústico – Tito Paris.
Singer, lyricist and multi-instrumentalist Tito Paris came from a musical family who lived in Mindelo (São Vicente). At the age of nineteen he emigrated to Lisbon and played four years of bass guitar in the band ‘Voz de Cabo Verde’. He turned out to be a much-needed companion in Cape Verdean and Portuguese circles. Tito formed his own band in 1994 and that made him internationally known. With his refined sensual style he mixes Cape Verdean genres with salsa, bossa nova, samba, blues and soul.
