The Songs of Matt Dennis
Matthew Doveland Dennis (1914-2002)
He was the child of musical parents (father was a singer, mother a violinist) who performed together in Vaudeville shows, and Matt did the same at a young age as a pianist and singer.
In addition to performing with his own trio, he worked as an arranger and vocal coach for the then very popular vocalist Dick Haymes and as an arranger and composer for the Tommy Dorsey band whose vocalist in the early 1940s was Frank Sinatra.
Today, the compositions found in the Great American Songbook!
