Harold Mabern, who was born in Memphis, is remembered as one of the greatest post-bop pianists ever. He was mainly autodidact and learned to play from, including others, Charles Thomas and Phineas Newborn Jr. He did not have enough money to go to the conservatoire, but luckily he received a few months of free private lessons after which he practiced 12 hours a day in the following years.

The following CD comes from saxophone player, composer, arranger, and bandleader Immanuel Wilkins. In 2015, he moved to New York City where he completed his Bachelor of Music at Juilliard. In the last few years, he has toured the world and worked together with the Count Basie Orchestra, Solange Knowles, and Bob Dylan. During this period, he formed his own quartet with which he released his debut album Omega in August 2020.
