A whole night of world music, compiled by Cobie Ivens.

1- Celebrating World Music 40 years 40 tracks.

A double cd. of the label: ‘ARC Music’. They had something to celebrate in 2016, namely: 40 years in the World Music business. This label has not only survived the entire evolution from analog to digital, but is still strong in the market today. You will listen to music from artists from Europe, the Middle East, all of Africa and South America. The album opens with the title: Mikhi Nathan Mu-Toma (The Invisible Man) of Seckou Keita’s solo album 22 Strings, winner of the ‘Songlines Music Award 2016’ for the best African and Middle East album.

2- British Music at Womex 08.

WOMEX – the World Music Expo – is the world’s most international music meeting and the biggest music scene conference featuring a trade show, talks, movies and a showcase festival. In 2008, it produced the album British Music at Womex 08, which included several artists, such as: Nana Tsiboe, The Angel Brothers, Peatbog Faeries and many others.

3- Inmigrantes, Lalo Zanelli & Ombu.

Composer, pianist, arranger, guitarist and singer Lalo Zanelli was born in Buenos Aires in 1959 and has lived in France since 1983. The album Inmigrantes testifies to the historical and cultural importance of immigration, the basis of major musical trends such as tango or jazz. The album reflects the unique and original identity of Lalo Zanelli, which was also noted in his previous productions.

4- Pagodes, Jono McCleery.

Jono McCleery, a promising singer / guitarist from South East London, is one of the fastest growing stars in England’s singer-songwriter circuit. In 2008, his debut album Darkest Light, which was funded by donations from his fans, appeared. Jono’s music is timeless. Music, reflecting the past, present and future at a glance.
On November 8th, he joined BIRD https://bird-rotterdam.nl/ in Rotterdam.

5- Around Silence,  Vyacheslav Guyvoronsky.

It is not the first time that Vyacheslav Guyvoronsky, one of the most creative Russian musicians, chooses for Indian music. This time, however, he goes with the authentic Indian vocalist N. Ahsan and tablist D. Kucherov. In 61 minutes, you will be carried away by the mysticism of rising, waving, glowing raga.

6-Gondwana Dawn. Africa and India: United in Music and Harmony.

In 2011 eight children from South African schools started a journey of musical and cultural discovery. Under the guidance of Grammy-winning music producer Robin Hogarth, the children traveled to India where they collaborate with Robin and Vidushi Sumitra Guha to create a musical merging of Indian classical music with their African choir song.
