The leader is accordionist Riccardo Tesi, a groundbreaking composer and a researcher who has given a new dimension to Italian folk, with respect for history. For this group, Riccardo Tesi found a number of dedicated musicians. Maurizio Geri combines his passionate vocals with gypsy jazz guitar improvisations. Saxophonist Claudio Carboni with his phrasing from Italian ballroom music. And percussionist Gigi Biolcati. CD. Argento – Riccardo Tesi & Banditaliana. Label: Visage Music (2018), code: VM3020. 2- Ciribiribin, Jazz’n Roll by Laurent Vigneron & The Po ‘Boys.
Laurent Vigneron & The Po ‘Boys is a meeting between two generations of jazz musicians who mix as in a “Po’ Boy”, a traditional sandwich from Louisiana, which mixes meat and shellfish (sea and earth). The Belgian Laurent Vigneron plays with Max Malkomes on bass, Mathieu Najean on saxophone and Florent Jeunieaux on guitar. Four songs are enriched by the sounds of Martin Méreau on vibraphone and Timothé Le Maire on trombone. The styles are blues, rock & roll, jazz, folk and creole influences. The group’s sound derives from African-American jazz, without limits in the musical translation. The songs are inspired by Italian standards and calypso or rock & roll music from the 1950s. CD. Ciribiribin, Jazz’n Roll – Laurent Vigneron & The Po’Boys. Label: Chouette Edition (2018), code: CCL003. Distribution: XANGO music. VIDEO

3- Tabla Rasa by Coco Malabar.
Nicolas Tumba alias Coco Malabar is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Congo Kinshasa, based in Brussels, Belgium, since 1990. As a child he sang every Sunday in the choir of the church in which he later became famous with his guitar, his first chords and the first harmonies. His father listened a lot to Myriam Makeba; she is the first singer who has shaken his youth. Later there was Fela or the Grand Kallé, the forerunner of modern Congolese music. Later, he discovered the ‘reggae’ that was decisive, and prompted him to make music himself. CD. Tabla Rasa – Coco Malabar. Label: A3 musique ((2018), code: 006. Distribution: XANGO music, VIDEO

4- Mediterranean Moods: One Stop Licensing.
The Enja Records label, founded in 1971 in Germany, has produced hundreds of albums in the genre of jazz, world music and blues. In 2005 they released five compilation CDs in the series “Moods”. The CD we are going to listen to now is the volume 2 of this series, called Mediterranean Moods, with the participation of a large number of artists, including: Gianluigi Troves, Javier Gorotto, and Renaud Garcia-Fons and ten others, from the Mediterranean countries. from Europe. CD. Mediterranean Moods: One Stop Licensing (Enja Compilation, Vol.2). Label: Enja Records (2005).

5- Gelibolu from Tolga During | OttoMani.
OttoMani is a new musical project that combines contemporary music and jazz with traditional music elements from different parts of the Mediterranean. The compositions are all written by Tolga During, a Dutch-Turkish guitarist who currently lives in Italy. Even if the music has been carefully arranged, there is plenty of room for improvisation and interaction between the musicians. The song Kataya means nothing, it is the name that the two-year-old daughter of Tolga During gave to the guitar. The piece is a fusion of Mediterranean and jazz music. Tolga During plays a new instrument specially built for him; it is a guitar with two handles, one of which has no ferrets. CD. Gelibolu – Tolga During | OttoMani. Label: Visage music (2018), code: VM3019. Distribution: XANGO music. VIDEO

7- Tribù italiche: Sardegna.
Sardinia, an island with two very different sides – one tied to its traditions, in their more or less modern forms, and one influenced by the chic villas of Costa Smeralda, with its parties full of celebrities. Sardinian music, both choir and instrumental, is easily recognizable for its tonal and harmonic characteristics. But what about the music of the island? Who are the interpreters? The new chapter in the Tribù Italiche series will answer these questions: among the selected artists there are real virtuosos of their instruments, such as Bruno Camedda on accordion. The female side of the island, whose musical world is still largely dominated by men, is beautifully represented by Actores Alidos, while Clara Murtas collaborates with maestro Ennio Morricone for a moving and personal version of Ave Maria. CD. Tribù italiche: Sardegna. Label: World Music Italia (2008), code: WM047. Felmay catalog.
