Richard Galliano, one of the best accordionists of our time, is known as the “discoverer of the accordion in jazz”. His counterpart on this album is Sylvain Luc, an equally gifted guitarist. Inspired by the eternal chansons of Edith Piaf, the two virtuosos meet for the much-praised jazzy improvisation on well-known melodies.

2- The Rising Sun is the new trio project led by Italian guitarist and composer Fabrizio Savino. The album is a mix of eleven tracks, two standards and nine original compositions. It is the result of the collaboration with the Italian double bassist Luca Alemanno and Sebastian Merk, one of the best drummers of the Berlin music scene. CD. 3- Timba MM (pronounced ‘Timba emmay emmay’) brings contemporary Cuban compositions inspired by Latin classics and mixes them with classical music, jazz, funk, samba, flamenco and folk. Michel Medrano Brindis formed Timba MM with his friends Mathieu Sénéchal and Adam Goulet. They compose their own songs inspired by contemporary Cuban artists. CD. Outstanding – Timba MM. 4- Resilience: Songs of Uganda marks the return of Ugandan celebrity Rachel Magoola as one of her country’s influential voices and most celebrated music artists. Rachel has long been a prominent figure in contemporary Ugandan culture, from her time with the legendary ‘Afrigo Band’ to her acclaimed charitable work. She now returns triumphantly with an album that highlights the hardships endured by the Ugandan nation, and celebrates the people’s tenacity and ability to recover from adversity. CD. On Microkosmos, the new album by Mads Vinding, we find ourselves in the company of flutist and singer Linnéa Villén and folk music violinist Andreas Tophøj. Flying solos and own songs go hand in hand with the oldest Danish melody we know – performed by musicians who inspire and challenge each other across all genres. CD. 6- The group Al Bilali Soudan was formed by fathers and sons, uncles and cousins Tuareg, griot from Timbuktu, Northern Mali. The predominantly traditional repertoire is rapidly adapted and improvised. It’s dance music. It is cultural preservation. It encourages people who have fled their homes because of war and rebellion. It is modern music performed on ancient instruments. Like the polyglot region where they live, the lyrics are in Tamasheq, Song hai, French and English.

7- Antimufa is a band from Amsterdam. They play music in the genres Tango, Jazz & World Music. The music sounds like Astor Piazzolla, Mercedes Sosa, John Zorn. The repertoire consists of covers and own work. Spontaneous improvisation added to classical tangos, milongas and folkloric rhythms creates a landscape of detailed textures, powerful melodies and refined sounds. CD. 8- Chris Jones has been singing traditional Welsh folk songs for over 20 years. He has picked up songs as a student in England and from singing at festivals and sessions in the countries of the British Isles for over 20 years. Chris was originally an unaccompanied traditional singer but later incorporated the songs into his own arrangements and interpretations on guitar and bouzouki in the traditional folk idiom in both Welsh and English.
