Jazz, blues and nostalgia, by Sjaak Roodenburg.
Roaming music history.
Jan de Vries is also known as ‘the Dutch Bing Crosby’. In this episode of The Palace, we’ll listen to this forgotten heartbreaker, who, thanks to his smooth voices, made a name for himself with the excellent orchestras of Ernst van ‘t Hoff and Dick Willebrandts. He was also The Ramblers’ favourite guest vocalist. And yet, his career was a short one.
He could croon, swing, and sing like no other in English, French, and Dutch, but he decided to stop singing after the war, and he began working for KLM.
This episode is a tribute to one of the greatest singers from Dutch music history.
