Music from bygone days. We again wander across musical genres (as long as it’s old) with:
Jazz and light-heartedness by Milly Scott (with Rocky & his Rock ‘n’ Rollers), Joop Visser on missing the wife who is ‘gone’, Johnny Hartman, Chet Baker.
Melancholy tropical sounds by Lovey’s Trinidad String Band, the swing orchestra of Harry James, the lively band of Jack Hylton with ‘Xylophone Stampede’, and bass player Milt Hinton who pulls out all the stops in ‘Bass Pandemonium’.
Also a Carmiggelt-remembered with Charles Trenet, the Flemish bard Zjef Vanuytsel about night time.
The ultimate in summer: Wim Sonneveld and Rita Reys about Scheveningen, and Boudewijn de Groot about the beach.
Perry Como bravely holding out under the rock ‘n’ roll violence of 1957 with a colossal hit, and The Dominoes with ‘Chicken Blues’.
