The wayward Prokofiev. A docudrama about one of the most prominent and independent composers of the 20th century.
Every fortnight, “The Wayward Prokofiev” dedicates one hour to the life and works of the Russian 20th-century composer Sergei Prokofiev, undoubtedly one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Today’s episode features his Skythic Suite, a remnant of a work cancelled by Diaghilev, and his five pieces from 1915 for piano and voice based on poems by Russian symbolism poet Konstantin Balmont. Finally, as an encore, a short work for four bassoons.
