In Memoriam Robert Ashley

American composer Robert Ashley is one of the most prominent opera innovators of the twentieth century. Groundbreaking music theatre filled with surrealistic witticisms à la David Lynch, enigmatic poetry, video experiments and charming music. Ashley passed away in early March at the age of 83. In this Theme, several highlights from his early experimental oeuvre and his later revolutionary operas like ‘Perfect Lives’.
