Many Spanish bands have made a name for themselves since the late nineties, the most famous of which are Ojos de Brujo, Amparanoia, Che sudaka, La kinky beat and Dusminguet.
From this last group, Troba Kung-fu was formed a year or two ago, the unsurpassed group that brought singer/accordionist Joan Garriga to them.
Santalegria is their latest album, a lovely mix of the ingredients mentioned above, with an extra large helping of rumbia!

Singer Lilian Vieira has lived in the Netherlands for 25 years now. This was a great occasion for her to release her first solo record, appropriately titled Lilian Vieira.
It is a good album with many guest performances, by musicians such as singer Julya Lo’ko and percussionist João Parahyba, one of the founders of Samba Soul.

Sousou & Maher Cissoko.jpgSousou & Maher Cissoko, the Swedish/Senegalese kora playing husband and wife are certainly no strangers to the Concertzender. In 2013, they toured the Netherlands in the World Sessions series, of which the Concertzender has made a number of recordings. The programme can be revisited via "uitzending gemist" (missed programme) if you look for 28 June 2013.
The second album is Africa Moo Baalu, which means Leaders of Africa.
