Between whispering strings and symphonic vistas.
Today we feature German music for strings and a magnificent British symphony, both released on CD for the first time: Quatuor Diotima performs the Second String Quartet Reigen seliger Geister (1989) by Helmut Lachenmann, a fascinating exploration of the boundary between sound and music, followed by the vivid Ninth Symphony (2016) by Christopher Gunning, performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Kenneth Woods.
